About

Let’s see, what do yall  want to know?

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Cultural Anthropology that I do nothing with… aside from that whole getting a good job and growing as a person bit.

I wrote a book about Celebrating Dia de los Muertos (Mexican Day of the Dead holiday)- found here

And a cookbook- found here

I like cats and big dogs. Because little dogs… just get a cat, you know?

I like gardening too- herbs, vines, roses… “You know. Flowers and shit.”

Years ago someone asked my husband how old I was and he said: “Thirty-four. But she likes to pretend she’s older” and he was exactly right.

I can assume from that last fact that you can tell I’m married- for over twenty years now, and twenty five together. My husband actually told me he was going to marry me on our first date- and it’s just gotten more terribly romantic from there, aside from that part where he died in 2024. And so, because our vows were till death do us part, and I am not dead yet, I’m just resolved to ask him out once I get to the afterlife. For now it’s me and the ghost husband, making our way through the world.

We have three daughters and I love nothing more than watching them turn into themselves over the years.

I don’t drive a minivan.

Or a Lexus.

Or give a crap about scrapbooking.

Or napkin rings.

And my new mantra, now that I’m a widow, is: “Nothing matters, so why the hell not?!” Sane, maybe not. But we’ll see where it takes me.

Other than that I’ll just say I have green eyes, a freckle on my right middle toe, and a sense of humor like one of my front teeth; which is to say- a bit off.

Thanks for reading!

Lauren

  1. Hi, Lauren. I was doing research on an artist recently by the name of Mary Ann Ginter. I found one of her lithograph prints at a flea market last weekend, and ever since then I’ve been very intrigued to know more about the artist because the style is very unique. I was googling her name when your blog turned up! I love your writing style, btw 😀

I was curious to know if you have any information on that artist? Thanks in advanced. I hope you’re having a great day.

    1. Hi! I had to think back, but that has to be the artist for the Mulberry Moon lithograph I wrote about. She had a VERY 80s style and seems like that was when she peaked in popularity… her work was reproduced in large number (lithographs in the hundreds, not 10s) but don’t seem to be very popular now. Woman sure loved mauve, amiright?! Her work is sometimes priced highly online, but if you look at sold prices it’s a very different story. As far as I know she’s still alive and is about 95

  2. Also looking forward to following this blog 😉 (And my name is also Natalie) … not going to lie the previous comment made me have to think if I have already left a comment.. even though this was my first time reading the blog!! … Hmmmm
